What is the Business of Professional Bloggers?

Once a blogger decides to make money from their blogs, that commitment becomes an important distinction from a personal blogger (e.g. hobbyist).  A professional blogger runs his blog like a business.  The decisions are based on a solid business plan, profit/loss margins and available resources.

The marketing plan is cutting edge, mainly because  the concept of Internet Marketing is new and ever changing.  As you observe the professional blogger, you’ll notice they utilize as much of the web resources as possible but in a focused way.  For example, some are Twitter fans, other Facebook or LinkedIn.  A professional blogger will often spend time in their preferred social media service, while maintaining a presence in the others.

The business model includes different types of incoming producing concepts.  Here are  a few:

  1. Affiliate Marketing – selling other peoples products/services and getting a commission or fee.
  2. Selling their own e-Book based on their blogging topics.
  3. Membership Site – Giving access to premium content for a monthly fee.
  4. Promote their hardcopy Book
  5. Promote their workshops/webinars

A small percentage of professional bloggers make a good income from the business models, especially SmartPassiveIncome.com.  Most make a part-time or decent size income with a lot of hard work, persistence and a good following.
